Floor insulation

Back

The standard type of floor insulation provided by De Backer is high-quality sprayed polyurethane insulation.

With this we completely seal the foundations (crawl space), achieve a high insulating value, provide a solid base for the screed and we also exclude thermal bridges.

Advantages

• Swift execution
• No drying times: as a result construction time can be considerably reduced
• A completely seamless system
• Insulation and filler layer in one operation
• Perfect adhesion and condensation resistant
• No thermal bridges anywhere
• Because polyurethane has a low lambda value a better U value is achieved with a thinner insulation than with any other approved system.

Material

By mixing two components a hard closed-cell polyurethane foam is created after a few minutes. A blowing agent, catalysts and stabilisers are added to the reaction mixture.

Execution

The polyurethane foam is sprayed onto a dry-to-touch, grease- and dustfree base on the spot.
The layer of insulation is sprayed directly onto the concrete slab or concrete hollow-core slabs in which all cables and pipes (heating, electricity etc.) have been laid. Thus all cables and pipes are located in this layer.
The foam is sprayed on layer by layer until the required thickness is achieved.
The building must be weathertight.
The temperature at which this is carried out must be minimum 5°C.
The floor-heating pipes can be laid directly on top of the PUR foam.

Technical characteristics

• Heat conductivity coefficient: initial value = 0,023 W/mK
• Volume mass: 35 kg/m³
• Compression stress with 10% distortion (kPa) > 200
• Percentage of closed cells: 90-95%
• Burning behaviour: Class B3
• The surface of the PUR foam is not smooth.
