QC Stables

Back

On 8 November 2008 QC Stables' new infrastructure was opened.

De Backer built the main building that dominates the project at the front and makes an impression in the ring at the back.

In addition to this main building, QC Stables has a lot more to offer: 56 luxury boxes, 6 washing areas, a covered liberty horse mill, an indoor ring, a lungeing ring, several hectares of meadows, etc.

QC Stables’ new infrastructure from an architectonic point of view:

For this combination of stable buildings, care areas, running track, storage and staff area with a meeting room and a lounge for visitors, a dominant main building made from timber combined with a metal prefab rear building was opted for.

The main building was built in perfect symmetry and, also thanks to its large dimensions, gives an impression of peace.

The mellow grey-coloured exterior wall finish in imitation planks contrasts with the imposing dark orange roof and breaks the formal peace.

Inside the building, the ring behind it seems to be brought indoors due to the direct visual contact via large inside windows both on the ground floor and on the first floor, which make it possible to follow what is going on from close by. The experience is reinforced by the intense interaction between the wooden supporting beams and the warm wooden wall finish.

The intention was that, in spite of its size, the building would be in harmony with the site and provide the visitors with a pleasant experience, both indoors and outdoors.
