De Goudvis clubhouse: chairman's report.

De Goudvis is an active angling club in Ramsel that has been in existence for more than 50 years.

Its main activity consists of organising angling competitions (club competitions, interclub competitions, open competitions, ...). In recent years the club has had around 100 members.

As is the case for all clubs, the clubhouse (the canteen) is one of the main sources of income. Unfortunately, on 16th January 2005 the canteen the club had at the time was completely destroyed by fire.

Both the owner and the club committee were immediately and unanimously prepared to carry on and to ensure that it was rebuilt.

After the necessary administrative red tape had been negotiated and the building permit granted, the club made its choice from among various quotes and opted for a DIY package from De Backer in Zandhoven.

The proverbial first beam was laid on 2nd October 2005. A few weeks later, on the ninth working day, the roof sheets were put on and the carcass was complete. Further finishing off, windows and doors, electricity, water pipes, plumbing and sanitary fittings, heating, screed and floors, kitchen fittings, ... was carried over the next few months so that the new clubhouse was able to be used by the end of January 2006.

External professional help was only brought in to install the central heating and refrigeration. The other activities were carried out by committee and club members without encountering any particular difficulties or having to use special equipment. The construction plans supplied are clear and the material delivered correctly prepared. Anyone who has played with Lego as a child can easily put together a De Backer construction kit.

The committee and the club are proud of what they have achieved thanks to the excellent service provided by De Backer.

The Chairman,

Guido Wouters
