The De Backer company was founded in 1979. Initially De Backer was a general joiner's that made window frames, doors, staircases and kitchens. Soon after starting the solid timber construction department it became clear that this was a successful venture for De Backer, probably because it added that something extra to the designs and technical construction. This department started to dominate De Backer and led to a very wide range of timber constructions, the main element of which is villa and house building.
Meanwhile, De Backer is now more or less the oldest solid timber builder and, also, market leader in Belgium. De Backer uses the ATG-certified stacking principle when building houses.
Today De Backer bvba, Langestraat 19, B-2240 Zandhoven still belongs to the original shareholders from the De Backer family. Only a few jobs are subcontracted out.
